Abstract. This thesis presents the numerical simulation study of the biomass-steam gasification in a bubbling fluidized bed (BFB) gasifier including the mathematical model development and the experimental validation of the model developed. The study focused on two main areas on developing the mathematical model: a one-dimensional (1D) non · Made available by U.S. Department of Energy Office of Scientific and Technical Information The total quantity of potential biomass generated from the residues of date palm in the Riyadh region to produce energy would be x tonnes per year. The overall potential to recover energy from the residues of date palm was forecasted to be PJ per year. Item Type: Thesis (PhD) Date Type: Completion. Status

The combustion of biomass is proposed as a “carbon neutral” alternative to fossil fuel utilisation and even a “carbon negative” technology when combined with Carbon Capture and Storage technologies such as oxyfuel combustion (Bio-CCS). Read more. Supervisors: Prof M Pourkashanian, Prof L Ma, Prof K Hughes This study is to investigate the characteristics of a biomass gasification system using mixtures of "oxygen-enriched air" and steam as the gasifying agent for increasing the syngas heating value · Student thesis: Doctoral Thesis › PhD Abstract Although the general principles of biomass gasification are broadly understood, at a larger scale of operation (e.g. > kg/h) there is a lack of confidence in the translation of the basic scientific concepts into a financially viable operation that satisfies regulatory requirements

Abstract This thesis is concerned with the catalytic fluid-bed gasification of agricultural residue from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
This thesis explores how different forms and levels of integration could facilitate deployment of large-scale biomass gasification for future production of biofuels. Three levels of integration are considered, a technological level, a process level and a value-chain level. Different integration concepts are then assessed with respect to these The biomass gasification has been carried out using a fluidized bed gasifier. This work focuses on the production of syngas from biomass (rice husk). ASPEN PLUS simulator and pilot plant gasifier were used to investigate the effect of reactor temperature, equivalence ratio and steam to biomass ratio on composition of product gas Biomass gasification for synthesis gas production and applications of the syngas Reinhard Rauch,1∗ Jitka Hrbek2 and Hermann Hofbauer2 Synthesis gas from biomass can be produced and utilized in different ways. Conversion of biomass to synthesis gas can be done either in fluidized bed or entrained flow reactors
